A Guide on How to Find the Best Trainer For You in Leicestershire

Introduction

In today's fast-paced world, where time is a precious and money more so, it's essential to make the right decisions on the right trainer for you.

This is where making contact with your trainer comes into play. A (free) call between a service provider and a potential client to explore your needs, goals, and challenges, and to determine if the service provider can offer a suitable solution for you needs. When you work with a trainer you need to trust that they know what they are talkng about, and that they are an ethical traning provider!

This benefits both you as a client and me as the service provider. We may not be a good fit!

You have visited website after website, sent emails that have been unanswered, and you are still unsure of what you need to do to improve your dogs behaviour.

It should not be that hard

The Free 1-2-1 Call

A Discovery calls usually last around 15-30 minutes, and they can be on the phone or via zoom.

The call is a crucial step your decision-making process, prior to the call, have some questions that you want to ask, and be prepared to answer questions from the trainer about your dog. Calls can be an opportunity to gain clarity of your goals, seek guidance, and identify the steps needed to achieve success and find information about the quality about your trainer.

For the businesses, calls can help in understanding the unique needs and challenges that you face with your dog so that the best advise and recommend the most effective training program for your dogs nA discovery call should be utilised to give you information, for you to find out what methods the trainer uses (only choose positive reinforcment) and the process of the training program.

The call isn't designed to be a disagnosis of your dogs problems, but it goves the trainer and idea of what might be going on and from there they can advise you on the best program for you and your dog and give you a time frame of the work that needs to be done. And there should be no obligation for you to go ahead with the recommended programs. I always explain a basic guide to why the dog may be acting that way, but the assessment will provide lots more information and from there a better diagnosis can be made.

all behaviour is necessary for you dog

What Questions Will The Trainer Ask Me?

They will ask about your dogs behaviour, the triggers that cause the behaviour, what the dog does, what you do, what you have tried to do and the success.

They should ask about you and how it makes your feels.

They should explain about their qualifcations and methods of training, the assessment process and what to expect from the plan.

What Question Can I Ask The Trainer?

Some of the questions that you might like to ask are

What are your qualifications and expereince?

What training methods do you use? Avoid anyone that talks about leadership, those that use corrections and don't use rewards, they may say rewards are bribary.

What should I expect from the program?

Are they insured?

Where does the training take place?

In conclusion

I don't work with people on an individual basis without a discovery call.

Dog training is an unregulated industry. Don't fall into the trap of booking with someone who has no qualification and uses harmful methods. Don't fall for fancy marketing and a flashy website.

A dog trainer should seek information about your dogs issues and your needs prior to seeing you. You should be asking about their insurance, qualifications, methods, long term goals and expected outcomes.

They should not be advising single sessions, as there is very little that can be learned and developed in one session. Behaviours needs teaching, developing and crafting further.

Dog training and behaviour can be daunting, but it doesn't need to be. Clear clarity and communication should help you make an easy decision.

A discovery call is a great way to meet your trainer before commiting to work with them

Discovery calls pave the way for meaningful connections and fruitful partnerships.
